Casey Van Blues Band

Casey’s musical education began at age eight in New York City where he studied jazz piano, but it was in the Netherlands as a teenager where he apprenticed with blues guitarist, Willem van Dulleman, and blues harmonica great, Carlo Reijs. Under Willem and Carlo’s guidance, Casey immersed himself in traditional blues performance, providing Casey with the vocabulary that would shape the musical landscape he utilizes in his music today.

Casey has worked with blues veterans such as Chris Antonik and Tom Bona, as well as recorded a demo of original blues compositions and covers. On his demo, Casey sings and plays guitar, bass, harmonica and Japanese shamisen. In 2014, Casey won a chance to perform at Life, Death and the Blues by Raoul Baneja through the "Youth Blues Challenge."

Tim Monis Quartet

In 2013, Casey Van completed his BFA Hon. in Jazz Bass Performance from York University. Below is a sampling of Casey's upright bass work as part of the Tim Monis Quartet. Other jazz and funk projects Casey has been involved with include Snooky Tynes and Chris Peterson's Time Wizards.
